The estate is proud to be part of the International Dark Sky Reserve.

In an urban area you’ll be lucky to see 20 stars on a clear night but in an area of low light pollution, such as in our National Parks, you could see as many as 2,000 twinkling above you. It is possible to glimpse the Milky Way, sparkling star clusters and even the elusive Northern Lights.

Yorkshire Dales National parks also organises various Dark Skies Festivals throughout the year.

We’re providing maps and books and you’ll find lots of opportunities on the grounds to gaze at our magnificent sky!
